So, Larry is one of the Wesley Foundation Board Members. In fact, he's the treasurer. So most of what Larry talks about in meetings is budget reports and cash flow. That's his job. But as you can see by reading his responses to my questions, there's a lot of depth to Larry as well. Take some time to meet Larry and you'll be blessed!
My inspiration to become a part of Wesley was through Donna Hall. (Board President) When she asked me if I would be willing to "help out" with the accounting for Wesley, I couldn't say no. Donna's devotion to the dream of establishing a campus ministry for our local college students was contagious. As it began to become a reality, I felt honored to be asked to have a small part in it. The greatest blessing to me is seeing the dream of having a house for our Wesley students become a reality. That coupled with having a passionate and compassionate campus minister like Pastor Jennifer adds greatly to the blessings. The story or memory that comes to mind would have to do with Wesley's BBQ Chicken Dinner fundraiser this past October. The fellowship between the Wesley Board members and many volunteers was both fun and rewarding. I was particularly impressed with the work ethics and good attitudes of the Wesley students that participated in the event. My hope for Wesley in the next ten years would be to see continued growth in the number of our student members in the Wesley Club at both school campuses. Also, I hope that the Board can be successful in growing an endowment program that will allow Wesley to be self-sustaining for many years to come. I continue to pray and ask for God's direction in serving others by using my spiritual gifts. When I look back over my life as a Christian (during the past 15 years), I am amazed how God has used me to help others. My life has been greatly enriched by becoming involved in various kinds of ministry programs. I look forward to seeing where God will be leading me tomorrow. My prayer for Wesley students is that they will establish (if they haven't already) a personal relationship with God that is meaningful in their daily lives. College life can be very stressful and challenging, and understanding that God is there to help and guide them can provide the peace of mind to achieve thieir goals. In other words, we can always rely on God, no matter what happens to us, if we truly believe in HIm!
